On 23rd March, following moves across Europe and Asia, the British Government implemented strict social isolation/distancing measures and closure of non-essential business activity. Understandably, the hospitality industry has been hit very hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, since large gatherings are currently not considered to be safe activity.
We would like to offer our thoughts to all those who have been affected by this terrible virus, and extend our admiration and thanks to all those keyworkers on the front line. We include in that, those in the food industry, and would like to thank our wholesale suppliers for their commitment to continue delivering food and for transforming their service to deliver to the public. Particular thanks to to J & R Foods and Weddel Swift, who have supplied wholesale, which has enabled us to deliver to local people self-isolating.
By the end of March, we at D J Haggett were looking forward to, and preparing for our busiest ever April, which included two very big weddings – and a summer packed with events. However, we are currently working with clients to find alternative solutions to their bookings. So far, we have been able to re-book virtually everyone to a future date. If you have any queries at all, please do contact us. We are working on an individual basis and will do everything we can to accommodate you.
We would also like thank the British Government for the help and support they have offered to small businesses such as ours. We are a strong company with a thirty-year history and would like to reassure clients that we will return to business as usual as soon as it is safe to do so. However, we are grateful that the Government has acknowledged the needs of small businesses in its package of support at this challenging time.
We hope that all our clients and suppliers are coping through this crisis. I’m sure we will all experience even more joy from celebrations with family and friends when festivities are allowed to take place once again! We have missed the happy gatherings and love playing a central role in making celebratory events special. We very much look forward to doing so again!
